On the previous tour date in San Jose was met with boos when he confessed that he would have voted for Donald Trump, if he had voted at all. The Sacramento show got off to a better start when he brought out Kid Cudi for a hug and a performance of ‘Waves’, but after a few songs he embarked on a speech.
As if addressing Beyoncé, he said, “I was hurt because I heard that you said you wouldn’t perform unless you won Video of the Year over me and over ‘Hotline Bling’.”
He added: “Now don’t go dissing Beyoncé, she’s great. Taylor Swift is great. We are all great people. But sometimes we be playing the politics too much and forget who we are – just to win. Fuck winning, fuck looking cool.”
He later encouraged Jay Z to call him and talk to him “like a man”. “I know you got killers. Please don’t sent them at my head,” he said.
Following his Trump comments earlier in the week, he took aim at the President-elect’s campaign rival. “This Saint Pablo tour is the most relevant [thing] happening,” he said. “If your old ass keeps following old models, you’ll be Hillary Clinton.”
The concert ended after three songs as he announced: “Press, get ready to write your passive aggressive, LeBron [James] racist comments – get ready, the show is over!”
After the house lights went up, Golden 1 Center “filled with choruses of boos and confused looks from fans,” according to local reports.
