Yaounde-Douala road collapses (photos/video)

Motorist are stranded in Yaounde and Douala following the collapse of the road linking the two cities this morning. The road above a river, collapsed after Boumnyebel, a town about sixty kilometers from Yaounde following heavy rains on the night of 20/21 October 2016.

According to multiple reports, the Secretary of State for Public Works and other competent authorities have rushed to the spot to seek for an urgent solution to the problem that can have a very negative consequence on the economy of the country.

The officials are now examining the possibility of re-routing vehicles. Amongst two options the more plausible is to leave from Yaounde -Otele -Minka- Makak- Eseka then to Boumyebel. This requires an additional two hours .

In the meantime, officials of CAMRAIL are currently holding an emergency meeting to seek ways of cushioning the transportation crisis.
