Samuel Eto'o rejoins Antalyaspor squad after racism row

African legend Samuel Eto’o has rejoined the Antalyaspor squad, after he was axed for comments made on social media about not being respected enough. The 35-year-old posted controversial remarks on social media about not receiving enough respect because he is black and he was subsequently dropped from the squad.

Eto’o last featured for Turkish outfit on 26 August 2016, and has only managed to score once in his three appearances this season. However, the former Cameroon international has now rejoined the first team and the club’s president, Ali Ozturk Dawn believes his presence will be a positive.

“Eto’o’s return will be more positive.” Ozturk said in a statement.

“The team and will reflect positively on the performance of our players. Eto’o is our valuable players. However, accusations of racism is very heavy. You must pay attention to this kind of thing.” he said.

The former Barceona and Inter Milan striker has made 35 appearances for the Turkish Premier League side, scoring 21 goals in the process.
