The government of Cameroon and the Spanish Deutsche Bank SA and Dubaï have signed two conventions worth FCFA 25 billion (4 billion taxes) for the rehabilitation of the Yaounde Municipal lake.
The convention signed this Tuesday 13th September 2016 by the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Louis Paul Motaze was approved on September 9, by the Head of State.

The project to make the view a beauty on its own, will be conducted in two phases during 24 months.
The Asciona firm, made of 30000 spanish entrepreneurs will ensure the restructuring of the dilapidating lake to a place worth the image of country.

According to the terms of the agreement, the loan from Spain will serve;

-The construction of a hotel worth 80 rooms during the first phase and 300 in the second phase.

-refurbish the drainage system, electricticy and the stinking water to a waterfront.

-Provide boats for relaxation amongst others.

It is worth nothing that, the rehabilitation of the Yaounde Municiapl lake has been a project on paper since 2003 when the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development conducted a study to rehabilitate the lake and in 2008 another on the sanitation of the lake was done.

  1. On the one side, it sounds liken a wow...on the other, I also hope it would not come with a colonization ticket. Is there a tender system in place to allow Cameroonians play a role in this business venture? like really the relaxation boats have to come from same deal?? This should be at least our own business as locals...
