All university students in Cameroon set to receive a laptop each from Paul Biya

Yesterday, July 27th President Paul Biya together with the Minister of Higher Education Jacques Famé Ndongo and a Chinese company Sichuan Telecom Company Engeneering Construction Co. Ltd signed an agreement to provide free laptop computers to every university student in Cameroon. Each student from public or private universities will receive a computer laptop from Biya.

According to news reports, Biya wants to help students secure access to the modern day digital economy. The amount reportedly commissioned for the project has not been disclosed.

Thank you Mr President!

  1. hahahahaha, such kindness has a price tag. Either the government is buying support from the vibrant and intellectual youths or wants to hack them for any future threats. A proactive way to continue ruling.

    1. It's better to buy votes by giving back to the people than rigging elections. A good start. Better than nothing.

  5. Ordinary companies from China come and sign contracts with the government. Why cant they sign such contracts with a Cameroonian company to supply the laptops. And it is not Biyas money, if and only if this will be done, the Tax payer is paying for it, so we cant say "Biya" is giving laptops.

  7. Cameroonians, you always question everything Biya does good or bad. If he hadn't done it, you would say university students in Cameroon are not computer literates now the president wants to improve computer literacy in our universities it has become a problem. Why can't you appreciate for once when the guy is trying to catch up with the rest of the continent.

    2. I beg if I were u Mr. Tankwa Yep, I will just delete that non sense u wrote. Catch up with what. Did the students told u guys they were not computer illiterates. Each and every student in Cameroon knows the educational sector is a mess. So they put in a lot of efforts to educate themselves and to acquire knowledge. Instead of u to say, Biya should create jobs and employ the youths who are the future of Cameroon but they are there now as hair dressers, taxi drivers and okada riders, prostitutes, gays, call boxers, pmuc agents etc. How many youths are they in the public sector or in the government of Cameroon. He only knows how to recruit us as BIRS so that boko haram will keep killing us.
Wicked people. God will punish all of u. This year will not end without most of u dying. Lord Jesus, don't spare them. We need change. The youths in Cameroon have been persecuted for so so so long. We need change in what ever way it comes cos our children will suffer if we don't fight now as Martin Luther King Jr. Fought for equality between blacks and whites in America in the 1960's.

  10. My friend let him create jobs and employ us then we will be able to buy all the gadgets we want and need. Giving them laptops to become scammers at the end of their studies cos there will be nothing to hold on to no job. And all entrance exams now u need to bribe with huge sums of money which a lay man can not afford. U must have a godfather in the government for u to be recruited. What a country. Prices of basic commodities increase everyday and he can only project to buy all universities students laptop to blindfold them. What is a laptop ? Most university students have laptops. Please Mr. Biya, no thank u. Create jobs for the youths. You old folks should give way for us. Cameroon is for us all not just for u and ur government. Please we need a break. Step down. I was born u were already in power. Am married now with kids u are still there. What a shame. Am u call yourself a Democrat.

  11. why not just sign in partnership with these companies and open brands of their company in the country, so we can assemble the laptops in cameroon so that the people are able to enjoy good warranty. importing does not make anything better, just increases out tech load and in the short run, spare parts will be lying everywhere. an assembly company will create more job opportunities as well as increase the technical know-how. man shine your eyes, this strategy is far from reasonable. what skill set do you gain without the technical know-how? THINK MEN...THINK

  12. 512Ram and 5G capacity laptop. Add to that, its a 'Made In China' product. We are finished! We are finished! Cameroon is really a dumping ground.

  13. This pure nonsense, how can u spent billions to buy from an other nation company to give to youth whom after school will end up in their perent home with no job. Why not better sponsor this young youths project or create your own computer factory and attract foreign investor and create more jobs for this youth after school. We are enriching foreign company's y we are going backward (500000 laptops for 75billion) this company has already make it life sales to just one customer.

  14. Yes we all know it's pure nonsense....this is bullshit.
But if we all the youths can come together and prove to him we don't need the fucken laptops...let's dump them by not taking them.
