The purple Rain singer was honored for his faith Sunday in a private ceremony at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall he frequented in Minnesota.
“It was a beautiful service, a tribute to Prince,” said one of the approximately 450 attendees, Richard Weiner.
“They talked about his faith, how he became a Jehovah's Witness in 2003, and his actions after that were to glorify God in words and deeds.”Speaking at the brief but packed service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Minnetonka was Larry Graham, the Sly and the Family Stone bassist who introduced Prince to the religion.
Also in attendance were comedian Sinbad and Prince protege Sheila E.
Another attendee, Eden Prairie resident Ursula Love, said, “I think Prince would've been moved by the service.”
Love, who wore sunglasses and all black - except for purple lipstick - said Prince “wasn't only a spiritual brother and a fantastic musician but he cared so much about people. He was a dear man to us all.”
