While speaking at the press conference on April 27, Christine Robinchon stated that France is not involved in electoral maneuvers in Cameroon as speculated by many political pundits. In her words she said,
"France hasn’t a candidate it is supporting or in any way behind the recent manifestations of some opposition leaders lately”.
“France considers that what makes the legitimacy of a leader is credible elections” A point shared by Francoise Collet the Head of the European Union Diplomatic Body in Cameroon who said “There is nothing like African Democracy, there just one Democracy”, she added.
She rounded up the discussion of the day on the very sensitive issue of Cameroon constitutional amendment controversy. To her “France needs that Cameroonians arrive at a consensus on this subject but that the final decision lies in the hands of Cameroonian people”.
The daily newspaper Mutation in its May 6th edition reported that the Ambassador also spoke on the support France is providing to Cameroon in the fight against Boko Haram, she did say "France contribution is highly appreciated by Cameroon’s Leadership although most of it is not very visible. We are providing intelligence information, specialized training of the military and Cameroon could not expect the least from us”
It is worth noting that this discussion panel was organized by the Cameroon Union of Francophone Press.
