Nigerians and African Americans fight on Instagram over photo of fufu and egusi soup

Nigerians are a proud and an unforgiving lot! Reality tv star Tammy Rivera, has caused a war between Nigerians and African Americans on Instagram after she posted this photo of herself eating fufu and egusi soup with her long nails cooked by her mother who is married to a Nigerian (her step-dad).

Many of her American followers who aren't familiar with Nigerian cuisine called the mixture 'disgusting vomit'. Proud and angry Nigerians who didn't take the 'vomit' comments lightly, flooded Instagram to set the records, and this brought them head to head with the African Americans

  1. But I must admit that the way the picture was taken will make it look 'unpresentable' and disgusting in the eyes of someone who's never seen or eaten it before.

We understand because we know it, but she should have taken a picture of the entire food, well served on the plate and it should have been untouched that is, when she hadn't started eating it. A picture of the foofoo when it has just been unwrapped from the foil paper or so, and placed beside the vegetables. Then she can take another picture of herself eating it on table. That means we should be able to see her on the table, the plate and everything as she is putting the food in her mouth.

Such a close screen shot of most food especially food that has already started being eaten will look disgusting as well.
A screen shot of the macaroni and cheese in the traditional African American soul food would also look disgusting right?

  2. This reminds me of the article you wrote about Anastasie Brenda's instagram post about her favourite traditional meal. You had almost the same disgusting comments calling for the cooks at the unity palace to be sacked. And some of your fans posted same kind of disgusting comments. People should learn to appreciate difference with positive attitude.

  5. this pix was flagging on my timeline. I was like what's the fuss. Who is that so hungry couldn't even pose the food before taking picture.
To me this picture shows she really enjoying the meal. you know the aroma you don't even have time to take picture or present the stuff.

Definitely people have to be real when you are uncultured you make shallow comments. There's a Caucasian man who lived in Africa ( can't remember which country) and when colleagues made shallow comments he chuckled and corrected them. Some their mouths were wide open agape when they hear the beauties in our beloved land.
